Year of the Pig 2019

For the 2019 Chinese Zodiac keyboard, Ducky is honored to collaborate with Taiwan’s contemporary indigenous artist, Master Kulele Ruladen. The design takes inspiration from the wild boar—an iconic symbol in the culture of Taiwan’s Paiwan tribe—paired with motifs of the Cosmic Deity, intricately carved bronze plates, and glass bead patterns. These cultural elements are brought to life on the keyboard through dye-sublimation technology, while the aluminum alloy bottom case adds both sturdiness and a distinctive touch.

Kulele Ruladen-A metalwork master

Master Kulele Ruladen draws inspiration from tribal culture and ancient myths, blending three-dimensional sculpture with artistic craftsmanship to create a distinctive style. His works infuse traditional culture with fresh meaning, challenging stereotypes through a reflective and critical approach. This collaboration aims to showcase Taiwan’s indigenous heritage and exquisite metalwork, seamlessly integrating them with the art of mechanical keyboards.

Dye-sublimation techniques featuring various pictograms

Bronze is commonly used as materials for aesthetic creation by the Paiwan society. After communicating with Master Kulele Ruladen, bronze-red was chosen to be presented on keycaps of this limited edition, plus dye-sublimation techniques featuring various pictograms. (e.g. axe, bow and arrow, vine)

Special Metallic Relief of the Cosmic Deity

In Paiwan culture, the Cosmic Deity is regarded as the creator and origin of all things. For this design, Master Kulele Ruladen meticulously crafted the details in metalwork, presenting the relief prominently on the front as a striking centerpiece.

Engraved Bronze Backplate Design

The back of the keyboard features an intricately engraved bronze plate depicting a Paiwan warrior facing a wild boar—a symbol of courage and the story of life.

Five-Sided Dye-Sub” Glass Bead Keycaps

Inspired by the Paiwan tribe’s unique glass bead totems, the keycaps carry symbols representing love, courage, nobility, and agility. Through five-sided dye-sublimation, these motifs are vividly preserved, showcasing Paiwan cultural heritage throughout this Year of the Boar keyboard.

65% Layout Design

The 65% keyboard layout maintains the compact form factor of a 60% keyboard, but the key difference lies in the additional three dedicated keys in the upper-right corner, commonly used for productivity tasks (such as Delete, Home, or Page Up/Down). This design strikes a balance between space-saving aesthetics and everyday functionality, making it especially suitable for users who need both gaming performance and office productivity in one keyboard.
